E-commerce reached a momentous milestone in 2014 when e-retail sales surpassed $300 billion in the United States for the first time. Web sales finished out 2014 at $304.91 billion, which represents a 15.4-percent growth rate over $264.28 billion in sales in 2013, according to the U.S. Commerce Department. That marks the fifth year in a row that e-commerce has grown by 15 percent or more.
