The Apparel Logistics Group Internship Experience

The Apparel Logistics Group (TALG) has long forged a strong relationship with the University of North Texas (UNT) located in Denton, Texas. TALG actively works with UNT in various engaging opportunities such as Internship programs across different functional departments with the potential to develop into full time positions upon graduation, speaking engagements, on-site student tours and projects.

Luke Lucky is a senior student at UNT majoring Logistics and Supply Chain Management. Luke joined the TALG team as an intern during the Summer of 2014. He is involved in multiple process improvement projects that are a great hands-on experience for him and that will also deliver a positive impact in the growth of the company and to better serve our customers. The result: a win-win opportunity for both student and company!

Luke was generous enough to provide a recap on his Internship experience at The Apparel Logistics Group.

As a Logistics major entering my senior year at the University of North Texas, I was looking for an internship that would help me grow as a professional. While searching for my second internship, my goal was to find a successful company that had employees with plenty of experience in the logistics and supply chain field. I had already completed an internship that was somewhat bland and just gave me basic assignments that I could expect to encounter in my profession. Luckily, once that internship ended I was able to find TALG. Both Suzanne and Joe were kind enough to bring me on board for their internship program. While working with TALG I’ve created various logistical reports, and attended meetings/conference calls with different 3PL customers. All of these activities have benefited my experience in the professional world. I’ve learned the importance of communication and collaboration, not only within the department, but also with prospective and existing customers. The best part of this internship is how both Suzanne and Joe engage me into their activities. That is one of the best ways for any intern to learn. My supervisors do a great job keeping me busy and involved with different tasks facing TALG. You can tell these two know the apparel industry very well and they were able to answer any question I asked. Working with knowledgeable and engaging supervisors has created a great internship experience for me thus far.
